If you haven’t heard, there is BIG news in the gluten-free world.  We’re talking earth-shattering big!  Okay, maybe not QUITE earth shattering, but it’s a huge deal.  Walkers Shortbread
is now making gluten-free shortbread cookies!  How fabulous is that!?!  One of the biggest names in shortbread, worldwide, is now making cookies for those of us who need to be gluten-free.  I’ve known about this for many months now, but wasn’t able to get my hands on them until recently.

Let me just start by saying that these cookies are SOOOOOOOOOO good.  Like, the kind of YUMM that makes you do a little dance after tasting.  These are not for the faint of heart, those who want ‘low cal’ foods, or people who can’t have dairy.  The cookies are intensely buttery in the best possible way.  That rich, creamy taste lingers in your mouth.  The sugar is nice and subtle, with a hint of sweetness to balance all of that wonderful butter.

As is fitting for shortbread cookies, they are small with a good, dry crumb.  Shortbread cookies don’t tend to work well in large sizes because, as a whole, they tend to break and crumble rather easily.  You can see in the picture that these cookies are petite, but not miniscule.  The only real ‘downside’ to these for me was that we had to eat them when the kids weren’t around because Aidan is lactose intolerant.  These would not have been good for his little tummy!

We only tasted the ‘original’ flavor of their gluten-free shortbread cookies, but they also make chocolate chip and ginger-lemon flavors.  I’m quite curious to try both of these flavors when I get the chance.  I would definitely recommend ordering AT LEAST two boxes of these cookies, because unless you have way more self control than I do, they won’t last long!
